CAIRO: 15 June 2017: Pope Tawadros II met with United Nations Resident Coordinator Richard Dictus on Thursday to enquire about the recovery and well-being of injured Copts and families of victims of recent church attacks.

Dictus discussed the current status of the Coptic community following recent church attacks across the country, according to a released statement by UN office in Cairo.

Deadly bombings have previously hit Saint George’s Cathedral and Saint Mark’s Cathedral where Pope Tawadros II was hosting a ritual in April on Palm Sunday. Over 40 were killed and over 100 people injured in the deadly attacks.

Video footage from two church security cameras have been released by state TV showing that the suicide bomber was standing outside the Alexandrian cathedral.

Dictus was appointed to several positions in Egypt last January, including UN Resident Coordinator, United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Resident Representative, and Designated Official for Security, according to UNDP’s official website.
