Egypt braces for unstable weather as of Wednesday, Gov’t readies for expected floods

CAIRO – 12 November 2019: Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has warned from unstable weather and heavy rains to hit the country as of Wednesday, and will last until Friday.

Ministry of Irrigation has declared state of emergency for the coming 24 hours to deal with floods, and take needed procedures for expected storms through continuous monitoring of waterways and water levels, and raising state of readiness for maintenance works of all irrigation facilities, septic tanks, canals and drains.

The ministry also announced releasing studies to deal with heavy rains, which include two levels: first to attract accumulated rainwater and store them in artificial lakes to be used by local communities in irrigation purposes. Second, to reduce risks associated with heavy rainfall by implementing industrial works ranging from dams, walls, crossings to direct water flow to waterways.

Cairo witnesses a relatively moderate weather on Tuesday, recording highs of 32 and lows of 20.
