CAIRO – 26 October 2019: The Ministry of Environment launched an extensive inspection campaign around Jebel Qatrani, a paleontological and geologic formation located in the Faiyum Governorate of central Egypt, to ensure enforcement of laws preserving biodiversity and migratory birds safety.

A statement by the ministry said the campaign managed to trace and demolish 10 dens for falconers and wild birds hunters, as well as seizing a lot of illegal fishing tools.

The further called on citizens to preserve and protect wildlife by avoiding hunting because of its importance to human life and the environment, lest they get subjected to legal accountability for violating environmental laws.

During the current period, the Ministry of Environment is intensifying its efforts to raise environmental awareness among citizens and the importance of biodiversity and citizen participation in environmental protection.

The Ministry of Environment invites citizens to inquire about the importance of wildlife or to report attempts of illegal trade or hunting through its hotline: 19808
