CAIRO – 13 June 2017: Morocco's King Mohammed VI will dispatch aid shipments of food to the Gulf state of Qatar during the holy month of Ramadan, according to a statement released Monday by the Moroccan Foreign Ministry.

“The decision comes in accordance with the Islamic teachings that require mutual cooperation and solidarity amongst Islamic nations during the holy month of Ramadan,” the statement added.

Morocco’s move came following a Saudi-led embargo which was recently imposed on the import-dependent state of Qatar.

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab of Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt announced diplomatic and trade sanctions against Qatar, on accusations the state harbors and finances terrorism and its ties to Iran.
