CAIRO - 25 September 2019: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said that Egypt had placed sustainable development at the forefront of its national priorities, during his speech at the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit held September 25-27.

Sisi noted that the Egyptian state had formulated a national plan that integrates and contributes to the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda, as well as strategies aimed at raising the capacity of countries to achieve progress.

Speaking at the summit, Sisi called for the necessity of political commitment by all member states and the international and regional organizations towards these vital issues, and also need to consolidate efforts towards serious and sustainable joint work.

Sisi also called for enhancing efforts to provide the necessary funding for the flow of the necessary resources, in a way that commensurates with the level of ambition hoped for, and the seriousness of the challenges, without political conditionality, or attempts to impose certain models of economic and social development.

The president reviewed Egypt's efforts in this regard, saying that the country has worked on creating job opportunities, empowering women and youth, as well as upgrading the health and education sectors, and trying to strengthen the close link between building our technological capacity and achieving progress in our overall economic and social conditions.

Sisi delivered a speech at the Health Care session of UNGA, where he emphasized the highly successful anti-Hepatitis C campaign in Egypt.
