In pics: Sisi arrives in NYC to participate in UNGA 74

CAIRO – 21 September 2019: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi arrived in New York Saturday morning to participate in the 74th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 74) that is set to kick off on Tuesday.

Dozens of Egyptian community members in NYC gathered in the streets, carrying Egyptian flags to welcome President Sisi. Ahead of Sisi's arrival, Egyptian community held a dinner that witnessed the participation of Egyptians from different U.S. states. Photos of President Sisi and a display of Egypt's national projects were presented on mobile TV screens that toured NYC.

President Sisi is scheduled to give a speech before the UNGA on Wednesday, where he will touch Egypt’s vision, achievements and stances towards regional and international situations that are discussed, especially in terms of global peace and security, said presidency spokesperson Bassam Rady.

Rady added in a presidency statement that Sisi’s speech will also international efforts to counter terrorism and extremist thoughts, besides economic, social and development fields and Africans affairs in his capacity as the chairman of the African Union.

He is also scheduled to hold a series of bilateral meetings with a number of world leaders on the sidelines of the UNGA meetings to exchange views on enhancing relations in different fields.

Sisi will also participate in a number of high-level conferences that are set to be held during the 74 session of the UNGA.

While regarding Egyptian-US relations, President Sisi’s visit to New York will witness intensive activities, where he is set to meet with influential U.S. figures, leaders of global American companies, and major economic institutions that are seeking to increase the size of its investments in Egypt, in addition to localize its work in the country amid attractive investment environment and the comprehensive development operation.
