CAIRO - 18 September 2019: Ahmed el-Ghandour, the host and producer of the educational YouTube show "Al-Daheeh",was nominated for the IBC Young Entrepreneur Award, which was announced on Sunday, September 15, 2019.

Ghandour is in the final list which includes seven nominees for the IBC's 2019 Young Pioneer Award.

A first of its kind,the award is presented to those who “have made a real impact with their passion, ambition and commitment and make an outstanding contribution to the media industry, be it creative, commercial or technical.”

Ghandour has become an icon of the new media and education in the Arab world with 160 episodes of diverse content. He started in 2014 when YouTube was filming 5-15 minute videos on his personal channel.

Ghandour has more than 3.3 million subscribers on his AJ + program and over 250 million views in total.

"What we were looking for on the shortlist was most importantly, a real talent, an outstanding individual who makes a real difference in the industry, '' said David Levine, vice president of children's programming, Europe, Africa, UK and Ireland at Walt Disney, adding that they were also looking for a lasting legacy to make the young pioneer a leader.

IBC, an exhibition of media, entertainment and technology, holds a conference every year to celebrate media excellence, and present an awards ceremony aimed at identifying the brightest emerging talent.

This year's conference was held at the RAI Convention Center in Amsterdam on September 13-17. The winner will be announced at the awards ceremony later.
