CAIRO – 18 August 2019: The government has launched a national campaign on social media to promote the public awareness of drug and medication errors that cause fatal risks.

The Drug Information Center, affiliated to the Pharmaceutical Affairs Central Administration of the Ministry of Health, launched the initiative to preserve patients’ health and rationalize the consumption of medicines.

Another initiative was launched by the governor of Egypt's Dakahlia to treat children born with hearing impairment in the northeastern governorate, starting September 1.

As part of the government’s health program, 100 Million Seha (Healthy Lives) Initiative, which comes under President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi’s auspices, 30 clinics were recently set up nationwide to help Egyptians quit smoking.

Medical checks are being offered for free, and awareness campaigns have been highlighting the significance of quitting smoking, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

A total of 30 clinics will be allocated in psychiatric and respiratory hospitals all over Egypt.

Also, the100 Million Seha initiative, launched in October 2018, screened 45 million citizens for hepatitis C before ending in April 2019. The Health Ministry vowed to fully eliminate the disease in Egypt in 2022.
