Madbouli calls for speeding up pace of implementing projects in new cities

CAIRO, Aug 6 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli stressed the necessity of speeding up the pace of implementing projects in new cities to face overpopulation and create more job openings and investment opportunities.

This came at a meeting on Tuesday to follow up the implementation of ongoing projects in new cities, with the participation of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Minister Essam el Gazzar and Vice Chairman of the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA) Abdul Mottalib Mamdouh, Director of the Slum Development Fund Khaled Siddiq and Assistant Housing Minister for the NUCA Affairs Walid Abbas.

For his part, the housing minister presented a detailed report on projects that are being carried out in the fourth-generation cities; New Mansoura, New Aswan, New Mallawi, New El Fashn and New Rosetta (Rashid).

The meeting also took up a restoration project of the large wall of the ancient Magra Al Oyoun aqueduct, which channeled water to the Citadel in the historical Fatimid Cairo and its surrounding areas, in addition to the Maspero Triangle Development and El Roubiki Leather City projects.
