CAIRO – 5 August 2019: The Jordanian government extended its condolences to Egypt for the death of 19 persons and the injury of more than 30 others in a multi-vehicle crash early Monday.

Jordan wished the injured a speedy recovery, the Foreign Ministry of Jordan posted on its official Twitter account on Monday.

A total of 19 people were killed and 30 were injured after a wrong-way driving car crashed into three other vehicles, causing a huge explosion outside the Cairo-University affiliated National Cancer Institute in Giza, said a Health Ministry statement.

Attorney General Nabil Sadek ordered a team of prosecutors to head to the crash site to carry out the required examination and stand on the causes of the accident.

A total of 42 ambulance vehicles were deployed at the crash site immediately to transfer the injured to hospitals to receive the needed treatment, according to Health Ministry Spokesperson Khaled Megahed.
