CAIRO – 5 August 2019: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has stressed Egypt’s stance in support of Libya’s unity, stability, and security.

In a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday, Sisi reiterated that Egypt supports efforts exerted by the Libyan National Army (LNA) to fight terrorism and uproot terrorist organizations that pose threats to the security of both Libya and the Mediterranean region.

The phone call touched upon some regional issues of common interest, with Sisi reaffirming Cairo's rejection of all forms of foreign interference in Libya’s internal affairs, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said.

For his part, Macron placed an emphasis on the need to settle the current Libyan crisis that poses threats to the security of the whole region to enable Tripoli to restore its regional and international role.

Radi added that the phone call discussed a number of issues related to strategic ties between both Egypt and France.
