CAIRO - 4 July 2019: Egypt spares no effort to achieve gender equality, as it has always been in a leading position in the concept of women’s empowerment within the society, the Minister of Planning said Thursday.

Addressing the audience of a forum organized by the National Council for Women where UN General Assembly (UNGA) President María Fernanda was present, Hala el Saeed said Egyptian government took unprecedented actions, aimed at increasing the women representation in the public sector and society.

Egypt is the first globally in matching between the 2030 sustainable development strategy and its goals, which pays special interest in gender equality and women’s empowerment.

"We are a nation that was led by women in pharaohs’ times: Cleopatra, Nefertari and Hatshepsut. We have a very nice story to tell at a lunch with Maria Fernanda, President of the UNGA during her visit in Egypt,” said Maria Morsy in her speech.

“Proud to share with women ministers a round-table talking about stories of Egyptian women, she added.
