CAIRO, June 23 (MENA) - The executive office of the council of Arab tourism ministers convened its 24th session Sunday to discuss updating a draft of a document on an Arab tourism strategy.

The strategy was submitted by Egypt's Tourism Ministry and had been endorsed by an Arab Summit in Baghdad in 2012, said Arab League (AL) assistant secretary general for economic affairs Kamal Hassan Aly in press statements after the meeting.

Headed by Egyptian Tourism Minister Rania el Mashaat, an Arab committee is tasked with outlining the new draft in light of international developments in the field of tourism, Aly said.

The document should be titled "a strategy to support and develop Arab tourism", he noted.

The meeting also took up efforts to activate the tourism info and statistics sector, which is submitted by Bahrain, Aly said.

Joint Arab tourism activities also figured high in the meeting, he added.
