Egypt condemns terror attack against mosque in Baghdad

CAIRO - 22 June 2019: Egypt condemned in the strongest terms the blast attack that targeted a mosque in east of Baghdad on Friday, leaving a number of people dead and injured.

According to a statement issued by the foreign ministry on Saturday, the Egyptian government and people stand by the government and people of Iraq to confront all forms of terrorism and extremism.

Cairo also extended its condolences to the victims' families, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

Also, Al Azhar condemned the terror attack, added that the targeting innocent citizens is rejected by heavenly religions and humanity.

The Islamic institution offered condolences to the Iraqi president and people, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.

Meanwhile, Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al Ahmad al Jaber al Sabah also voiced his condemnation of a suicide bombing which hit eastern Baghdad on Friday.

This came in a cable of condolences that the Kuwaiti Emir sent to Iraqi President Barham Salih and Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi.
