House speaker praises cooperation with China in terror combat

CAIRO, June 19 (MENA) - Egypt's Parliament Speaker Ali Abdel Aal praised Egyptian-Chinese cooperation in the field of terrorism combat along with enhancement of the level of coordination and exchange of information on means of fighting the extremist terrorist organizations.

The Egyptian speaker's remarks were made on Wednesday at a meeting with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Li Zhanshu. Abdel Aal is currently on an official visit to China leading a parliamentary delegation.

The Egyptian speaker also voiced hope over increasing cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism in view of the two countries' old civilizations and cultural backgrounds.

He also commended the development of the two countries' relations, terming them as "historical and strategic", highlighting the high level of coordination between the two sides regarding a set of issues of common interest.

Abdel Aal also asserted that Egypt has strategic priorities for dealing with China and promoting the level of relations in all fields.

On the regional level, the Egyptian speaker exchanged viewpoints with the Chinese lawmaker regarding the Palestinian issue and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in accordance with international resolutions and relevant terms of reference.

Abdel Aal called on the Chinese parliament and speaker to support the Libyan House of Representatives and the Libyan army as they are representing the two legislative foundations of the Libyan people.

Li, for his part, welcomed the Egyptian parliamentary delegation, praising the level of Egyptian-Chinese relations in all fields especially the parliamentary one in light of the presence of mechanisms for regular parliamentary exchange of visits.

The Chinese lawmaker also asserted the willingness of both sides to enhance their friendly relations with the aim of reaching a comprehensive strategic partnership.
