Egypt cooperates with Cyprus in defense industries

CAIRO - 11 June 2019: Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) Abdel Men'em el-Tarras stressed the importance of cooperation with Cyprus to upgrade defense industries in accordance with the directives of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi.

Recently, President Sisi ordered to participate in the development of defense industries in partnership with international expertise.

Tarras's speech came during his meeting with a high-level delegation from the Cypriot armament authority on Tuesday with the aim to enhance investment and partnership between the two sides.

The meeting tackled efforts to boost bilateral cooperation in different industrial fields, as well as efforts to localize technology and boost joint industrialization activities.

Tarras said that the AOI is looking forward to enhancing cooperation with Cyprus, which is of strategic importance to the Egyptian national security.

He also added that Egypt's position, its leading role and success in organizing the IDEX International Defense Exhibition in Cairo in 2018 have been a strong incentive for many major arms companies and international officials to hold joint talks with the Arab Organization for Industrialization to enhance cooperation and find scientific and technological solutions for defense equipment and systems.

For his side, director of the Department of Armaments of Cyprus Tasso sjorgio pointed out that the coming period will witness more cooperation with Egypt.

Also,Secretary General of the Cyproit Ministry of Defense George Giorgio praised the efforts led by President Sisi in all fields of development and the scale of achievements and national projects currently underway in Egypt.
