OTTAWA, May 15 (MENA) - The Egyptian embassy in Canada organized a cultural symposium late Tuesday, under the theme of the secrets of Egyptian monuments and the most important new discoveries.

The event is organized in cooperation with the Canadian Institute for Mediterranean Studies and the College of the Humanities of Carleton University.

Ex-antiquities minister Mamdouh Damaty delivered a speech at the symposium which was attended by high-ranking Canadian officials and foreign diplomats.

In statements on the fringe of the symposium, Egyptian Ambassador to Canada Ahmed Abu Zeid said the attendees voiced deep appreciation of the Pharaonic civilization.

The symposium falls within the framework of promoting the Egyptian culture in Canada.

Within this context, Damaty participated during his current visit to Canada in a symposium in Montreal and another in Toronto.
