CAIRO – 8 June 2017: Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met his Burkina Faso counterpart, Alpha Barry, to discuss bilateral relations, according to a statement released by Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zaid Thursday.

At the beginning of the meeting, Shoukry stressed the historical relations between the two sides and Egypt’s pride in its bilateral relations with Burkina Faso. Shoukry added that Egypt is interested in further developing bilateral relations across various fields, including combating terrorism.

Shoukry also told Barry that Egypt is ready to contribute to Burkina Faso’s development plan by encouraging Egyptian investors to invest in the infrastructure, energy and construction sectors. He expressed Egypt's aspiration to enhance trade between the two countries.

During the meeting Barry stressed his country’s support for the measures taken by Egypt to resolve the Libyan crisis, showing support for Egypt’s recent airstrikes on alleged militant targets in Derna, eastern Libya.
