CAIRO – 27 April 219: Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Marks Diocese on Saturday led the Easter Mass at the Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Abbassiya.

The pope was accompanied by a number of bishops, priests and deacons.

A representative for President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and a raft of ministers, ambassadors, statesmen, lawmakers and public figures attended the mass.

Presidential delegate Minister of Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Omar Marwan attended the mass on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

Minister of Public Business Sector Hisham Tawfik also attended on behalf of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli.


The Mass was also attended by Minister of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs Nabila Makram, Health Minister Hala Zayed, Youth and Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi, Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal and Damietta Governor Manal Awad.

Also, representatives of the Armed Forces, Interior Ministry and Al Azhar were present.

Ambassadors, lawmakers, former ministers, public figures, artists, writers, media professionals and judges also attended the mass.
During the Mass, the Pope thanked President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for his greetings on Easter.

We pray for Egypt and all Egyptians to be safe and sound, the pope said.
