CAIRO - 7 June 2017: The Egyptian army ranking has risen to become the 11th most powerful internationally, according to Global Firepower website specialized in military strength rankings, Wednesday.

The army used to be ranked as the 12th army internationally; however several military deals have been made by the government and President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, especially with France.

“In February 2015, Egypt has signed with France a $5.9 billion military deal regarding a 24 Rafale fighter jets. Later in October of the same year, another Mistral helicopter carrier military deal was signed for € 950 million,” according to France 24.

Former French President Francois Hollande said in during signing the deals that Egypt was seeking “aircraft quickly, due to the threats that it faces.”

“I believe it's very important that Egypt is able to act to uphold stability and to be in security.” He added, February 2015.
