Cabinet denies reports on performing random drug tests on citizens

CAIRO - 19 March 2019: The cabinet media center had dismissed as groundless reports on performing random drug tests on all citizens.

In a statement, the center said it contacted the Ministry of Social Solidarity which on its part denied the news, saying no decision was taken in this respect.

The statement added the tests will be only performed for civil servants to make sure that do no take illegal drugs which affect the performance of the state machinery, pointing out that drug tests had been performed on school bus drivers and vocational drivers on motorways and found that some of already took drugs.

The ministry appealed to social users to be accurate in publishing such reports and contact officials before posting them.
