CAIRO - 18 February 2019: Commander-in-Chief of the National Libyan Army KhalifaHafter issued a decree to resume civil aviation at Sabha International Airport for humane and social purposes, Commander of Sabha Military Zone Al Mabrouk al-Ghazwy told press Monday.

Ghazwy clarified that the security agencies at the airport will operate under the supervision of Sabha Military Zone.

Mid-January, the National Libyan Army launched an operation to liberate the south west of the country from terror groups. Few days ago, the general command banned aviation in the area without a permission from the Air Force.

The statement indicated that aircrafts that donot abide by rules willbe forced to land and will be dealt with as hostile targets, affirming that foreign aircrafts that land in sand runways willbe a “legitimate target” for Libyan fighter jets.
