CAIRO – 1 February 2019: Iranian activist and writer Reza Parchizadeh said that the fall of the post-revolution regime has become near. He explained that a country’s administration with that number of “international disputes” like Iran have, cannot survive for much longer.
The Indiana University of Pennsylvania researcher criticized the Islamist regime in Iran during an interview with Egypt Today. He said that the Iranians are longing for a democratic regime rather than the current hard-line one.
“The international situation is overwhelmingly against the Iranian regime. The United States, Israel and Saudi Arabia want the regime gone” Parchizadeh stated, adding that “The Iranian people are sick and tired of the Islamist regime in Iran” and want to “overthrow it”.
Parchizadeh pointed out that Russian president Vladimir Putin will never allow the Iranian influence to grow more it should be or to delay his own plans anywhere, especially in Syria.
What is the reality of the current society in Iran?
The Iranian people are sick and tired of the Islamist regime in Iran. They want to overthrow it and install a democratic system in its place.
What is the reality of the internal situation in Iran after the US sanctions?
The international situation is overwhelmingly against the Iranian regime. The United States, Israel and Saudi Arabia want the regime gone; the European countries have a cautious approach to the regime; and Russia and China will use the regime as a bargaining chip with the US while not really investing in it as an ally.
Will Iran relinquish its ballistic missile program?
Not as long as the Islamists are in power in that country. But a democratic Iran will not need ballistic missiles because it will make peace with its neighbors.
Where the crisis with France is heading because of the missile program?
France, like other Europeans countries, has adopted a cautious approach to the Iranian question. On the one hand it supports the Nuclear Deal, on the other it keeps condemning the Iranian regime for its development of ballistic missiles.
What is the bill of Iranian military adventures outside its geographical boundaries?
The Iranian regime means to expand its brand of Shiism to the rest of the Middle East. The export of revolution has always been one of the tenets of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
What is the impact on the Iranian citizen?
As a result of the regime’s bad behavior in the region and the world, Iranian citizens are tremendously suffering. For instance, they don’t get the respect that deserve from the international community, just because they are the citizens of a country whose government is the greatest state sponsor of terrorism.
How does the Iranian regime deal with popular anger?
It usually tries to channelize popular anger and direct it to other phenomena like football or the “enemies.”
Do you see a close change in relations between Iran and Russia after Russia allowed Israeli strikes against Iran in Syria? Do you expect there is a difference in strategic vision between Iran and Russia?
This is not something new. Russia has always used the Iranian regime as a facilitator and a bargaining chip with the United States. It is willing to side with the Iranian regime only as long as its own interest is not in danger. Regarding Syria, Russia prefers not to let the Iranian influence grow too much. That is because Putin has his own plans for Syria, which the Iranian regime keeps disrupting.
Can Iran strike Israel or is it just making statements?
The Iranian regime can indeed strike Israel, but the consequences would be catastrophic for the regime. That would give the green light to the United States and her allies in the Middle East to unleash total war on the regime and overthrow it.
