CAIRO, Jan 30 (MENA) - The Cabinet approved Wednesday a bill that stipulates the execution of everyone who imports or exports synthetic substances causing harm to the body, mind or the nervous system.

During a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dr Mostafa Madbouly, the Cabinet approved the bill which modifies some articles of law no. 182 of 1960 on combating narcotic abuse and illegal drug trade.

The bill also punishes possession of such substances by a rigorous life sentence and a fine of at least EGP 100,000 and not more than EGP 500,000.

Also, the bill punishes owners of places prepared for illicit drug consumption by rigorous imprisonment and a fine of at least EGP 200,000 and not more than EGP 300,000.

Illicit drug consumers will be sentenced to at least one year in prison and fined at least EGP 1,000 and not exceeding EGP 10,000.

The bill has been approved with the aim of confronting the spread of all types of narcotics particularly synthetic substances which seriously harm the society and youths specifically.
