The empty seat of Syria is seen during a pre Arab Economic and Social Development summit

BEIRUT, Jan 20 (MENA) - The 4th Arab Economic and Social Development Summit kicked off on Sunday with the participation of all Arab countries except Syria and Libya.

Egypt's delegation to the summit is chaired by Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.

During the summit, Arab leaders are scheduled to discuss the agenda of the preparatory ministerial meetings held ahead of the summit. The agenda included 29 draft projects and items of mutual concern among the Arab countries.

The raised issues are relevant to economic and social activities, strategies of food safety, energy, eradicating poverty, women protection, digitial economy as well as Arab strategies of sustainable development of energy.

The first session of the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit was held in Kuwait in 2009, the second in Sharm El-Sheikh in 2011 and the third in Riyadh in 2013.
