CAIRO – 6 January 2019: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi received Saturday Mohamed el-Hassan Mohamed Othman, the first assistant of the Sudanese president, in the presence Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry, Chief of Intelligence Abbass Kamel and the Sudanese ambassador to Cairo.

Presidency’s spokesman Bassam Radi said, “The president welcomed the first assistant of the Sudanese president, assuring Egypt’s keenness to consolidate mutual cooperation between the two countries on all fronts. This meeting reflected the deep-rooted history of the distinct relationships between the two countries.”

“Egypt completely supports the Sudanese security and stability that are considered as an integral part of the Egyptian national security,” Radi added.

For his part, Othman transmitted Sudanese President Omar al- Bashir’s greetings to his Egyptian counterpart. Othman lauded the progress achieved in the cooperation between the two countries, especially after the multiple visits of the political leaders and prominent officials of the two countries.

Othman further stated, “Sudan is trying to benefit from the leading role Egypt plays in the region and its inspiring experience in development that manifested in the tangible progress in the economic indicators.”

The meeting included the discussion of several issues such as consolidating mutual relationship between the two countries on all fronts.
