Protecting, defending homeland is a religious duty, Egypt's Endowment minister

CAIRO – 23 December 2018: Minister of Awqaf (Endowments) Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa stressed Sunday that defending and protecting the homeland is a religious duty.

Any group that calls for committing murder and inciting violence does not belong to any religion, he noted.

During his speech at the symposium entitled (Citizenship doctrine amid modern challenges) held at Al Azhar University on Sunday, the minister said the countries, which enhanced peaceful co-existence and citizenship, managed to maintain security and stability and achieve progress.

National unity was attained in many states that have dozens of different religious and cultural sects, he asserted
