CAIRO - 14 November 2018: Egypt supports Burundi in all fields, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said Wednesday to his Burundian counterpart Ezekiel Nibigira.
Shoukry’s remarks came during his meeting with Nibigira on the sidelines of the preparatory meetings for the extraordinary AU summit, held in Ethiopia on November 14-18, the Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.
The two top diplomats discussed boosting the bilateral ties as well as the regional developments of common interest.
Shoukry praised the constant coordination between Cairo and Bujumbura, mentioning his last visit to Burundi in April 2018.
The Egyptian minister reiterated his country’s support to Burundi in various fields through the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD), citing the establishment of three new medical centers in Burundi along with offering training to more than 150 Burundians in 2017 in different domains, in addition to 55 others in the first quarter of 2018.
The two ministers agreed on reinforcing cooperation among the Nile Basin and AU countries.
