SHARM EL SHEIKH - 15 November 2018: Chairman of the parliamentary committee for energy and environment Talaat el Sewedi underlined that the International Biodiversity Conference in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm el Sheikh is unique and marks a watershed stage in the environment history in Egypt.

He highlighted efforts being exerted by Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad to protect the environment and reduce pollution, noting that the committee was cooperating with the Environment Ministry to serve this end.

He added that the committee had approved a bill filed by the government to protect natural protectorates, which account for 15 percent of Egypt's lands, noting that the bill will be referred to a general parliamentary session soon.
