ALEXANDRIA - 15 November 2018: Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) will take part in the 29th edition of the Arab Federation for Libraries and Information (AFLI) Conference held in Red Sea University in the Sudanese Port Sudan city.

The conference, which runs during November 19-21, is organized under the rubric of "Moving Ahead: A Futuristic Vision to the Role of Specialized Federations and Associations in the Field of Library, Information and Archives in the Arab World".

The AFLI Conference is attended every year by esteemed library and information science professionals and academics from Egypt and all the Arab world, exchanging their experiences, presenting their researches and sharing their initiatives in relation to the various topics covered in the conference.

The BA, represented in the Arabic Library Standards, attends the Conference, exhibiting its various publications, such as MARC 21 Formats in Arabic, with their latest updates, in addition to presenting its developing new projects and standards. This will take place in the Conference Exhibition, Bibliotheca Alexandrina Booth.

It is worth mentioning that MARC 21 Formats are standards by which bibliographic information is documented in a machine-readable form. It is considered one of the most efficient systems in data creation and sharing. Hence, the Arabic translation benefits Arab catalogers, providing them with an international standard in their mother tongue.
