CAIRO – 2 November 2018: At least seven people were announced killed and seven others wounded after a bus carrying a number of Copts was attacked near the monastery of Saint Samuel the Confessor in Upper Egypt's Minya on Friday, an anonymous security source said.

The security forces moved to the scene to disclose the attack's circumstances, and ambulance vehicles arrived near the monastery to transfer the injured to hospitals, the source added, affirming that the perpetrators are being pursued.

The main road to the monastery has been closed according to security instructions as it is located in a dangerous zone in the desert, in addition to the unavailability of communication network in its surroundings, the source said, adding that the victims used sub-roads to reach the monastery.

The security source stressed the need for all media to abide by the official statements only, and avoid taking information from unverified social media sources.
