BERLIN – 29 October 2018: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received at his residence in Berlin Chairman of Munich Security Conference Wolfgang Ischinger.

During the meeting, Sisi stressed the importance of raising political and social awareness among the regional peoples to be more capable of understanding their reality and realizing and analyzing their problems to seek the right solutions for them, presidential spokesman Bassam Radi said.

Ischinger extended an invitation to Sisi to take part in next year’s session of Munich Security Conference, noting that
Egypt’s assuming the African Union’s presidency in 2019 would offer a good chance for fostering coordination and consultations on regional files, the spokesman added.

The Munich Security Conference is an annual conference on international security policy that has taken place in Munich, Bavaria since 1963. It is the world's largest gathering of its kind.

Over the past four decades the Munich Security Conference has become the most important independent forum for the exchange of views by international security policy decision-makers. Each year it brings together about 350 senior figures from more than 70 countries around the world to engage in an intensive debate on current and future security challenges.

The list of attendees includes Heads of State, Government and International Organizations, Ministers, Members of Parliament, high-ranking representatives of Armed Forces, Science, Civil society as well as Business and Media.
