CAIRO - 26 October 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi on Friday sent a cable of greetings to the newly-elected Ethiopian president Sahle Zewde over assuming her new post, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said in press statements on Friday.

In his cable, President Sisi said he looks forward to boosting bilateral cooperation with Ethiopia, which in turn could contribute to achieving the two countries' joint interests and guaranteeing more progress and development for their peoples, the spokesman added.

Zewde, 68, a seasoned diplomat who has held positions in the United Nations and worked in peacekeeping operations in Africa, accepted the position following the unprecedented appointments of women to lead the Defense Ministry and the secret intelligence agency in the Ethiopian prime minister's new cabinet.
