CAIRO - 21 October 2018: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli has said that exceptional measures included in a three-month state of emergency law will only applied when necessary and in a way that would protect freedoms and maintain national security.

Addressing a parliamentary session earlier Sunday, Madbouli said that heinous terrorist acts against police and the army will not undermine troops' will to complete Operation Sinai 2018.

The people are united behind the Egyptian leadership in the face of terrorism, the premier stressed.

Egypt, he added, is keen on uprooting terrorism and the government has approved the state of emergency decree to help achieve that.
