ADDIS ABABA - 16 October 2018: Speaker of the House of People’s Representatives (HPR) of Ethiopia, Muferiat Kamil has submitted her resignation after being appointed as Minister for the newly-established Ministry of Peace.

The move comes as the Ethiopian HPR approved the appointment of the new cabinet unanimously which was proposed by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) reported on Tuesday.

The new cabinet has a record number of female ministers composed of 10 out of the 20 ministers.

The cabinet is downsized from 28 to 20, to speed up the ongoing sweeping reform of the country.
