CAIRO – 14 October 2018: Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry met Sunday with British Secretary of State for Middle East and North Africa, Alistair Burt, to discuss means of boosting bilateral relations and issues of mutual concerns, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez referred.

Shoukry will also hold a meeting with UN Special Envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame to shed light on the latest developments in Libya and efforts exerted by Egypt to restore Libya’s stability.

On August 25, 2017, Burt met with Egypt’s Minister of Interior Magdy Abdel Ghaffar.

Burt stressed the importance of boosting cooperation between the two countries to tackle security challenges, curtail increasing terrorist operations and eliminate the danger of terrorism in the region where it may arise.

“It’s very necessary to strengthen and broaden the information exchange system tracking their movements, as continuous pressures on terrorist organizations will nag them to seek new homes in other countries,” Burt added.

“I appreciate the Egyptian security efforts to combat terrorism and secure tourist attractions and resorts,” said Burt. He also expressed Britain’s desire to increase the rate of British people visiting Egypt.

Highlighting the most significant security developments and local efforts to secure tourist attractions, seaports and airports, Abdel Ghaffar welcomed cooperating with Britain to exchange technical and training expertise.
