CAIRO - 29 August 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi on Wednesday confirmed that Egypt is proud of its Coptic sons and their stories of success inside and outside the country.

At a meeting with Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese and participants of the World Youth Forum of the Coptic Orthodox Church, the president added that national unity is well-established in Egypt throughout history, said Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Rady in press statements.

The president expressed his appreciation and respect for the Egyptian church lauding Pope Tawadros as a patriotic man who played a remarkable nationalistic role over the past few years, said the spokesman.

Egypt looks at its sons from only a nationalistic viewpoint which holds high the values of citizenship and tolerance along with full partnership in the homeland, the spokesman quoted President Sisi as having said.

The young people expressed their pleasure for visiting their homeland and meeting with the president, said the spokesman.

The young Copts said that the situation in Egypt is quite different from the image depicted by media outlets abroad. The security situation in Egypt is stable, they confirmed.

Egypt’s Coptic Orthodox Church is holding its first-ever forum for the youth of Coptic expatriates under the title “Return to Roots.”

Copts under 30 years of age are participating in the forum; the first international forum for young Coptic Christians from the world’s five continents.
