Mohammed Al-Fakhrani, a security expert, said that there is continuous coordination between the water police, the coastal guards and the ministries of transport and agriculture, in order to carry out routine safety inspections for the river boats used in Nile trips and ensure the compliance of these boats on the relevant safety conditions, stressing that the filed inspections are intensified during the holiday seasons.
He further stressed that a zero tolerance policy shall be adopted towards those who commit any violations by overloading the boats to gain additional profits and that the interior ministry will receive any pertinent complaints or maritime reports via its hotlines.
