CAIRO – 31 July 2018: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli met Tuesday with Sudanese Minister of State, Tariq Tawfiq, along with several high-profile Sudanese officials to discuss means of boosting mutual cooperation between the two countries.
This comes in light of a recent visit by President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to the Republic of Sudan.
Sudanese Ambassador Abdel Mahmood Abdel Halim is scheduled to attend the meeting.
Both governments brokered lately a series of deals in order to enhance the bilateral relations which witnessed a slight tense amid the Ethiopian Grand Renaissance Dam (GERD) talks. However, the ties recovered after both countries’ officials were eager to contain any possible disagreements.

President Sisi received in Cairo Sudanese Foreign Minister El-Dardiri Mohamed Ahmed, The latter chose Egypt to be the first country he visits after assuming office in May.

On July 18, Sisi visited Khartoum in his first visit since his re-election as president in May.

During a joint press conference, Sisi backed an on-going regional bid to resolve the conflict in South Sudan as he praised Khartoum for hosting peace talks between the country's warring groups.

Sisi said the peace talks in the Sudanese capital aimed at achieving peace and stability in neighboring South Sudan, where tens of thousands of people have been killed and millions have been displaced since a brutal civil war erupted in December 2013.
