CAIRO – 10 July 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi honored Tuesday champions of the Egyptian sports mission to the Mediterranean Games 2018 that was held in Spain, in the presence of Minister of Sport, Ashraf Sobhy and Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly.

According to a statement issued by presidential spokesman, Bassam Radi, the president bestowed medals on several players and coaches who won medals at the tournament.



The statement added that the president affirmed the important role played by the Ministry of Sport, pointing out that the state puts youth at the top of its priorities because they are the future of our homeland.

Sisi also directed specific programs to encourage youth to participate positively in community work, stressing his full confidence in the capabilities of young Egyptians and their promising potential.

The statement also added that the president directed the development of the Cairo Stadium according to the latest international standards.

Meanwhile, the minister of sport presented during the meeting the ministry's projects which are carried out according to strategic planning, highlighting the ministry's preparations to participate in the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020, in coordination with the Olympic Committee and sports clubs.

Egypt participated in the 18th edition of the Mediterranean Games with 170 players. Tarragona, Spain hosted the tournament between June 22 and July 1.
