CAIRO - 6 July 2018: Austria is looking forward creating an Austrian-Egyptian friendship group at the Austrian Parliament, said President of Austrian Parliament and President of National Council of Austria Wolfgang Sobotka on Friday during his meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in Vienna.

The Austrian parliament has a total of 47 friendship groups, Sobotka said, praising Egypt’s economic reforms and expressed his country’s keenness to boost the bilateral economic relations, said Egyptian Spokesperson Ahmed Abu Zeid in a statement on Friday.

Egypt’s Shoukry started Tuesday a European tour to Germany and Austria, where he has discussed ways of boosting relations between Egypt and its European partners to enhance coordination with the German and Austrian governments, especially in light of Austria's periodic presidency of the European Union.

Shoukry’s discussed the economic reform program and Egypt’s deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), calling the Austrian companies to invest in Egypt’s megaproject of Suez Canal Corridor and the new Administrative Capital, Abu Zeid added.

Egypt’s Foreign Minister also discussed his country’s efforts of combating the illegal migration and counter-terrorism efforts, particularly in Siani. Both parties have tackled the regional and international issues of mutual concern, Abu Zeid continued.
