CAIRO - 3 July 2018: Cairo University President Mohamed Othman el Khesht had talks on Tuesday with Japanese Ambassador Takehiro Kagawa on means of promoting cooperation between his university and Japanese universities.

In a statement on Tuesday, Khesht said the talks tackled means of exchanging students and furthering cooperation in the academic, research and cultural domains.

He noted that Cairo University had inked several cooperation protocols with Japanese universities.

He suggested establishing a joint academic degree for post graduate students in the fields of media, agriculture and economy in addition to offering joint academic programs for researchers.

He also suggested that Cairo and Hiroshima universities have a joint master's degree under the theme of "for perpetual peace".

The talks also addressed means of accelerating work of a project for expanding and developing Abu el Rish Hospital which is bankrolled by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
