GENEVA - 2 July 2018: Egypt's permanent delegate to the UN in Geneva Alaa Youssef said Monday Egypt spares no effort in supporting the rights of the Palestinian people and their legitimate demands and exerting continuous efforts to find a just and comprehensive solution to the Middle East conflict based on the two-state solution and establishing the Palestinian state on the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.

In a statement before a plenary session on human rights in the Palestinian territories, Youssef noted President Abdel Fatah el-Sisi's decision to open the Rafah border crossing.

He also referred to the challenges facing the Palestinian in the occupied territories particularly the Golan Heights

Egypt has followed up with deep concern the latest developments in the Palestinian territories including East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip as regards targeting unarmed Palestinian civilians, he said.

He called on all the parties concerned to cooperate with the independent fact-finding committee to determine such violation and hold the perpetrators accountable.

Egypt is looking forward to more international efforts to reach peace, implement the two-state solution and end the suffering the Palestinian people have been going through for long decades, he said.
