CAIRO - 25 June 2018: An Arab meeting was held on Monday at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo at the level of permanent delegates to prepare for the eighth ministerial meeting of the Arab-China cooperation forum on July 10.

The preparatory talks presided over by Saudi Arabia in the presence of the Arab League's assistant secretary general Khaled el Habbas, tackled means to cement Arab ties with China and achieve an integrated partnership for achieving the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) to promote economic cooperation and deepen coordination in the fields of peace, security and cultural exchange.

The meeting also tackled files tabled on the forum's agenda to unify Arab visions regarding them before heading for Beijing.

China is an active participant in multi-party global governance platforms such as the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and G-20 to maintain the interests of the developing countries and it regards a closer coordination and understanding with Arab nations as an important part of its efforts to serve that end.

The Arab-Chinese forum was launched for the first time in 2004 and held seven ministerial conferences and 14 sessions at the level of senior officials to deepen the long-standing Arab-Chinese friendship.
