CAIRO - 5 June 2018: President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi will attend a ceremony to be organized by the Awqaf Ministry to mark Lailat al Qadr (the night that the Quran was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad).

The Awqaf Ministry will honor Quran reciters from Egypt and all over the world, said Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa in an interview with MENA.

Sisi will honor 10 of the reciters from Egypt and other world countries, Gomaa said, adding that nine of them are among the world's top reciters who had taken part in an international competition also organized by the Ministry.

He touched upon a plan his Ministry will be adopting in the coming stage to be in line with a general State strategy for personality development.

This, Gomaa added, will be done in coordination with the different ministries and parties concerned.

The Ministry will continue to act to correct the religious discourse and pay bigger attention to humanitarian and moral issues, the minister said.

He also talked about efforts to promote the values of citizenship, co-existence and tolerance, and to counter extremist ideologies.
