CAIRO - 13 May 2018: Egypt has strongly condemned the terrorist attacks on a number of churches in Indonesia's second biggest city Surabaya, leaving at least nine persons killed and 40 others injured.

In a statement released by the Foreign Ministry Sunday, Egypt expressed condolences to the victims of the families and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

The statement also asserted Egypt's backing to the Indonesian people and government in confronting terrorism.

The Foreign Ministry also asserted that such attacks reflect the ugly face of terrorism which is far away from the tolerant principles of Islam that prohibit the killing of innocent people.
