CAIRO - 11 May 2018: Family and friends of late Egyptian student Mariam Moustafa who was brutally beaten to death by a gang of English women in Nottingham, UK, have arrived at Cairo Airport to receive her body to be buried after nearly two months of her murder, on Friday May 10.

Cairo Airport authorities have delayed the measures of the coffin release until the Friday prayers time, among tight security measures.

Mariam’s body is expected to head to Hassan al-Sharbatly mosque at the 5th settlement in Cairo, where the funeral ceremonies will be performed.

According to Nottingham post, Moustafa’s father arrived in Egypt on Thursday night, after finishing the needed prayers at the mosque in Nottingham. However, he expressed in statements to the British outlet his deep frustration saying that his life cannot “go back to normal.”

On May 1, Chairman of the Human Rights Committee of Egypt’s Parliament, Alaa Abed stated that the British authorities have issued the burial permit of the late student, Mariam Moustafa, who was assaulted in Nottingham.

MP Abed told Egypt Today that Moustafa’s family informed him that they have received their daughter’s corpse; however, the cemetery where she is expected to be buried in is not ready yet.

In late February, Moustafa, an engineering student based in Nottingham, UK, was brutally beaten by 10 British women of African descent. The incident stirred condemnation of both the Egyptian Foreign Ministry and the British Embassy in Cairo.

The killing of Mariam stirred wave of outcry in Egypt and UK, after footage of the grieving mother went viral on social media, where she called on President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi to intervene to guarantee her daughter’s right in fair, transparent investigation by the British authorities. She accused the UK health ministry of negligence which led to the loss of her daughter’s life.
