CAIRO – 7 April 2018: Azhar Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayeb greets the head of Egypt’s Coptic Orthodox Church Pope Tawadros II, pope of Alexandria and patriarch of the Saint Mark Episcopate and all Copts, for Easter, according to a press statement.
El-Tayeb expressed his gratitude for the relationship and the cohesion among all Egyptians, describing it as an example of peace and coexistence for the world.
Easter concludes a 55-day period of fasting for Copts.

Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese will lead Saturday the Easter Mass in the Cathedral of St. Mark in Abbassia, with the participation of bishops and priests from the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church. Senior state officials are expected to attend the ceremony.
Spokesman of the Coptic Orthodox Church Reverend Paul Hallym told MENA that due to current renovations at the Cathedral of St. Mark in Abbassia, only the holders of personal invitations to the mass will be allowed to enter, adding that no exceptions will be made.

CAIRO - 2 April 2018: Five Air Sinai flights carrying 800 Coptic pilgrims headed to Jerusalem on Monday to celebrate Easter, officials from the Cairo International Airport told Egypt Today on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief the media.
