Abul Gheit, Syria's HNC delegation discuss situation in eastern Ghouta

CAIRO - 12 March 2018: Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit discussed with Syrian High Negotiations Committee (HNC) leader Nasr al Hariri and his accompanying delegation the situation in Syria especially in eastern Ghouta.

During the meeting on Monday, Abul Gheit condemned the intensified military escalation in eastern Ghouta that left many civilians dead, said AL Spokesman Mahmoud Afifi.

Abul Gheit said the AL supports the UN-led track to settle the Syrian crisis, asserting the necessity that all the national parties shoulder their responsibility to reach a political solution that guarantees the unity of Syria.

Abul Gheit hoped a real political dialogue will take place between the Syrian regime and opposition based on UN resolution 2254, saying dialogue is the only way to achieve real and lasting peace in Syria.
