CAIRO – 27 April 2017: Egyptian President Abdel-Fatah al-Sisi proposed on Thursday forming a group of youth permitted personal contact with him to assess projects being implemented by the government.
The President suggested that the group reviews the work of the government on monthly basis and inform the public of the successes and failures.
During the third day of the National Youth Conference, he said that up to 1,500 young people are being trained on leadership; some of whom are working in government sectors, adding they could play both a motivational and informative role by publicly evaluating the government’s performance every month.
Sisi emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between ideas and the means of implementing them, saying the youth have many ideas but the mechanism to turn them into reality must be complete. He called on the youth to “keep pushing” and help implement their own ideas, as officials may find obstacles in the law, culture and the performance of employees.
Around 12,000 youths participated in the conference on 26-28 April. The majority of attendees were from the governorates of Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, and Sinai, as the conference coincided with the Sinai Liberation Day
